Purpose of Position:
Oversee and maintain the operations of the WIC Program, providing leadership for nutrition and risk assessment for clients, determining eligibility for program services, collaborating with other NSHC departments and programs for internal referrals, and writing and securing continuation grant applications to maintain the NSHC WIC Program. Direct assigned employees demonstrate leadership by providing work direction, motivation, training, assistance, performance evaluation, and corrective action.

Essential Functions:
- Work with the RD/WIC Contractor, to implement the written office policies and procedures, prepare grants and maintain reporting
- Provide direct client services, direct the analysis and determine risk according to state guidelines for participation in the WIC program and provide nutrition education and documentation on determined risk
- Initiate clear client referral standards and coordinate referrals to other services within the company and other local agency providers as appropriate
- Perform leadership functions including selection, scheduling, training, performance management, discipline and demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, code of conduct, and work rules
- Instill passion in assigned staff for company's mission, vision, and values, paying particular attention to the maintenance of a safe and productive work environment
- Create a staff training outline and training schedule, review client files and identify corrections in risk assignment as needed, providing follow-up counseling and referrals where appropriate
- Demonstrate personal initiative and accountability while overseeing the department's budget, including forecasting needs, allocating resources, and taking corrective action as necessary
Required Knowledge:
All employees are expected to have general knowledge of typical office technologies such as computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and typical office software.

- Knowledge of program management skills, supervision and leadership skills
- Knowledge of state and federal WIC program standards and requirements
- Knowledge, understanding, and competency in USDA and State WIC requirements, including specifically:
o Certification in Participant-Centered Education (PCE) and participant-Centered Services (PCS);
o Nutrition assessment, nutrition education and counseling, and risk assignment;
o Issuance of WIC benefits.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Nutrition, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years in Nutrition education and counseling services, WIC program services, grant-writing, social services program management, and service delivery in a cross-cultural and/or socio-economically diverse settings
- Minimum 3 years as a Supervisor and/or manager experience
- State of Alaska Licensed Dietitian, or equivalent training education or experience (Registered Dietitian, RN or PA)
Experience:
